Application process

After reviewing the available positions, candidates should enter The Strong’s online career center, provided through InfinityHR, and view the available positions. To apply for a position, simply select the position for which you would like to apply.  Once the application has been successfully completed, candidates can revisit the site to check the status of their application simply by logging in using the user name and password they created.

Applying for positions via the career center website allows The Strong's Human Resources Team to receive and review your application materials in a more timely fashion than any other method of application. The application review process normally takes between two and four weeks to complete, and all applicants receive a response at the completion of the process. All candidates must consent to a criminal background check and drug screen.


 Guest Relations Host- Seasonal

Seasonal (may be scheduled up to 30 hours/ week)

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Strong is looking for energetic individuals with a passion for guest service to work in the museum galleries. This position is a seasonal position and requires an open availabiltiy during the summer months. Duies include, but are not limited to, interacting with families and young children, assisting guests with questions or directions, picking up exhibits and craft areas as needed, and providing superior customer service to museum guests.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or completed GED, will also consider current high school students 17 years of age and older

Prior guest service experience a plus

Environmental Specialist

Job Description & Qualifications:

The Strong is looking for energetic individuals with a passion to work on our Environmental Services team. Duties include, but not limited to, general cleaning and maintenance, dusting, vacuuming, buffing, mopping & waxing floors, collecting & disposing of trash, cleaning & stocking public and office restrooms, special event setups, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age with a H.S. diploma or GED
  • Ability to positively interact with Museum Guests
  • Ability to walk three (3) flights of stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Ability to lift, move, carry, push or pull weight in the 50 pound range. 
  • Ability to juggle many tasks at once, possess a strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
  • Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing; able to understand and follow standard operating procedures and to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Prior experience a plus.

 

Shifts Available:

  • 5 p.m. – 1 a.m. Wednesday – Sunday
  • 5 p.m. – 1 a.m. Friday - Tuesday

Conservator

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Strong seeks an experienced and energetic professional to direct the conservation of The Strong’s varied collections including a comprehensive array of toys, board games, dollhouse miniatures, and arcade video games and to supervise four staff members. 

The successful candidate must have superior oral and written communication skills, experience in and enthusiasm for working collaboratively in a team-based environment, capacity for strategic thinking and planning, and ability both to delegate and to lead by example.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in conservation.
  • Significant experience in relevant artifact conservation, including digital.
  • Demonstrated skills in project management and supervision.
  • Knowledge of key issues and standards in lighting and environmental conditions and experience with their application in artifact storage and exhibition.
  • Commitment to quality guest service.

Seasonal Groundskeeper

Job Type: Adjunct

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Strong is looking for a seasonal groundskeeper to assist the Grounds team maintaining the museum's grounds. Duties include, working with the Grounds team to maintain turf and landscaped beds in accordance with museum standards and performing regular grounds maintenance including, but not limited to, weeding and watering. 

The hours and days for this position can be flexible.  This position will begin in mid-May, and extend through the summer months.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or completed GED, will also consider current high school students 17 years of age and older.  Prior weeding and watering experience preferred, but not required.

Wage: 

$8.20/ hour

Food Service Host

Job Type: Adjunct (17 hours or less per week)  

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Strong is looking for servers and prep workers to work in the museum's food court. Successful candidates must want to have fun preparing food and serving it to museum guests. This position requires year-round availability and averages 17 hours or less per week.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or completed GED, will also consider current high school students 17 years of age and older.

Wage:

$8.00 per hour

Shifts Available:

Weekdays:  10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Friday: 4 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Saturday: 10 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.,

Sunday: 11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
