Owl Bank

mechanical bank

ca. 1900

In the 1800s and 1900s, coin banks encouraged children to save their pennies. Appealing figures of solid bank buildings, figures of humans and a wide variety of animals reinforced Benjamin Franklin's aphorism, "A penny saved is a penny earned."
