Queen Elizabeth II
doll
1953-1957
Captivated by British royalty at the time of Elizabeth II's marriage and coronation in the late 1940s and early 1950s, American doll artist Martha Thompson made several dolls depicting Elizabeth and her family including husband Philip and children Charles and Anne as youngsters. Her dolls of Charles (born in 1948) represented him at four different ages. The queen herself owned a doll of Charles as a one-year-old.
