NUON is a special technology that adds additional, enhanced features to a normal DVD player. This tehnology allows them to play certain video games also enhanced with NUON technology, MP3 music files, and provides extra DVD features such as zooming. There were initial plans to include Internet capability in the next generation of these enhanced DVD players, but they were never developed. Only eight games were ever released for the system, and production of the technology halted in 2004.
