The famous poem "A Visit From St. Nicholas," first published anonymously in 1823, inspired countless illustrations and spin-off goods for sale. McLoughlin's Game of the visit of Santa Claus is just one example from the turn of the 20th century. A simple race game with a spinner, it also had "gift" cards players collected as they played the game; they are missing from this example.
